Award winning Wold Top Brewery is celebrating after reaching the finals of Sainsbury's Great British Beer Hunt. The Wold Newton based brewery entered its light summer beer Golden Summer into the national competition that guarantees a listing with the supermarket for the ultimate winners and was delighted to beat stiff competition to become the only Yorkshire beer to make the final shortlist of 16 ales. Brewery owners embark on epic fundraising challenge

An epic cycling challenge involving an East Yorkshire brewing couple got underway at the weekend. On 16th April, a team of eight, including Wold Newton based Wold Top Brewery directors Tom and Gill Mellor embarked on the famous Lands End to John O'Groats cycle ride and hope to raise a considerable amount for Prostate UK and Breast Cancer Campaign along the way. The team, comprising four men and four women whose average age is 50, plans to ride 80 miles a day and complete the challenging 1100 mile ride in only 14 days.
