Award winning Wold Top Brewery is celebrating after reaching the finals of Sainsbury's Great British Beer Hunt. The Wold Newton based brewery entered its light summer beer Golden Summer into the national competition that guarantees a listing with the supermarket for the ultimate winners and was delighted to beat stiff competition to become the only Yorkshire beer to make the final shortlist of 16 ales. Golden Summer (4.4% ABV) is a light and fruity beer that will go on sale in Sainsbury's stores nationwide for three weeks from 7th September. The shortlisted beers will be judged on 30th September and two beers will be announced as the overall winners. The prize is a minimum six-month listing in Sainsbury's stores across the UK from November onwards. Commenting on the success, Brewery director Tom Mellor said; "The Sainsbury's competition is a fantastic way for small regional brewers like us to get national coverage. We're really proud to be flying the flag for the "wold famous" Yorkshire Wolds and look forward to Golden Summer being available all over the UK." This year, for the first time, the heats were judged by Sainsbury's consumers as well as industry experts. |
