When I say washing I am not referring to the type that involves either dirty plates or t-shirts. I am in fact referring to the production of a sugary solution from malted barley that yeast will ferment. There are two well known industries that use the fermentable sugars of barley to make alcohol, brewing and distilling. Our job until recently was exclusively to make this sugary solution (brewers call it wort) to feed our yeast which in turn makes beer. As the Tour de Yorkshire rolls into town, why not try a Hello Velo?

The first stage of the Tour de Yorkshire finishes just a few miles away from the brewery, in beautiful Scarborough, on 28th April. All along the route, local pubs will have our cycling inspired ale, Hello Velo in cask and there will be a limited number of bottles available too. Hello Velo is a crisp, sparkling beer that is made from 100% British ingredients, including our home grown barley, water drawn from the farm's borehole and UK hops. Celebrating 90 years of the National Garden Scheme with garden and brewery opening

We're pleased to be participating in the National Garden Scheme's Festival Weekend as it celebrates 90 years of helping ordinary people to open their extraordinary gardens to raise valuable funds for nursing charities. The opening of our garden at Hunmanby Grange on 3rd and 4th June also coincides with the annual open weekend for the brewery. Entry costs £5 for children and is free for children. Visitors will be able to tour the beautiful and interesting garden that Gill Mellor has created despite its exposure to the elements and a challenging soil.
