North Yorkshire businesses pull together for charity fundraiser

A charity auction of farm machinery and implements helped to raise £38,000 for Yorkshire charities and for Flixton and Folkton villages. Staff at G M Stephenson Ltd of Flixton appealed to local farmers to scour their sheds to see if they had anything to add to the charity auction and asked local businesses and individuals to support the fundraiser by donating goods or services for an auction of promises. Directors and staff at Wold Top brewery rose to the challenge and ran the bar at cost, Scarborough farm shop, Trotters provided a hog roast and there were lots of donations...

Garden goers and ale fans undeterred by weather for charity garden opening

Undeterred by one of the wettest Saturdays recorded this year, almost one hundred committed gardening and brewery fans braved the rain and helped to raise over £2,500 for charity. NGS (National Garden Scheme) 'Yellow Book' garden Hunmanby Grange and Wold Top Brewery's annual open weekend had to contend with a very wet start on the Saturday, 7th June, but by the Sunday, the sun was shining and the numbers increased almost fourfold. Brewery owner and garden creator, Gill Mellor said: "We raised over £2,000 for the NGS's designated charities that include Marie Curie and Parkinson's UK and £500 for St....
