Peter Sidwell's Yorkshire Porter Cake

Thanks to TV Chef and author Peter Sidwell for allowing us to share his recipe for Yorkshire Porter Cake. It's easy to make, keeps for ages (if it doesn't get eaten first) and is great for summer picnics as it travels well! This recipe is based on a traditional Irish porter cake, but have tweaked it a little and used a local beer that I found while visiting my parents in Pocklington, the town I grew up in. We were honoured to play a role in the Fordon 900 celebrations and we'd like to share the Press Release that was issued by the Diocese of York; St James’ church, Fordon celebrated its 900th anniversary with a visit from the Archbishop of York, and a beer.  Archbishop Sentamu visited St James on Sunday 19th July for a service and lunch, where parishioners toasted the church with a beer from Wold Top Brewery – Fordon 900. Yorkshire Coast brewery celebrates White Rose shortlist success

Wold Top Brewery has reached the shortlist in the Taste of Yorkshire category of the Welcome to Yorkshire White Rose Awards. Directors and staff at a Yorkshire coast brewery are celebrating after being shortlisted for a major national award. Wold Newton based Wold Top Brewery has reached the final of the Growth Business Northern England category of the The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) Awards. The Food and Drink Federation Awards honour the talent and inspiration in the UK food and drink sector. Brewery garden reports record visitor numbers

A Yorkshire coast brewery garden reported unprecedented visitor numbers at its annual Open Weekend. Wold Top Brewery, based at NGS (National Gardens Scheme) Yellow Book garden, Hunmanby Grange welcomed 720 visitors and raised over £3,000 for NGS charities when it opened its award-winning brewery and TV featured garden to the public this weekend.
