Micro brewery supports inaugural Yorkshire Wolds charity ride

A Yorkshire brewery has lent its support to the first charity cycle ride to take place around the new 146 mile Yorkshire Wolds route. Wold Top Brewery, along with sponsors Vion and supporters including Visit Hull and East Yorkshire, Dawes cycles and Ryedale District Council, helped Ryedale Special Families to raise over £8,000 from the two day Vion Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Challenge. East Yorkshire Micro Brewery earns National Great Taste Awards for fourth consecutive year

A Wold Newton farm diversification business is celebrating after gaining more prestigious national awards for three of its ales. For the second time, the Guild of Fine Food has deemed three of Wold Top Brewery's real ales worthy of an award, with Wold Top Bitter, Wold Gold and Wold Top Against the Grain gluten free beer all earning gold stars. Brewery owners help to raise £9k for charity

An epic cycling challenge involving an East Yorkshire brewing couple has raised over £9,000 for charity. On 29th April, a team of eight, including Wold Newton based Wold Top Brewery directors Tom and Gill Mellor arrived at John O'Groats having ridden 1,100 miles from Lands End to raise money for Prostate UK and Breast Cancer Campaign. The team, which completed the challenging ride in only 14 days, comprised Tom and Gill, Dave and Sue Morgan from Kilham, George and Karen Hamilton from Driffield, Robin and Colette Freeman from Hutton Cranswick. 22-06-2011 News from Haiti - there's even more need than ever to fund new wells..... The number of cholera cases last week has spiked hugely, there were 241 cases of cholera which is the largest number of cases since the beginning back in October. Most of the cases seem to be in areas where the river has flooded and innundated latrines, open wells, peoples homes. At this time the Cholera treatment centres are at capacity but are coping and the mortality rate remains 0.98% which is better than we'd hoped. A Scarborough based charity has stepped up its fundraising drive following news from Haiti that the incidence of cholera has increased dramatically following recent flooding.
