As Yorkshire Day approaches (1st August), an East Yorkshire farm diversification business is celebrating after winning prestigious national awards for two of its ales from the Guild of Fine Food.
Wold Newton based Wold Top Brewery has been awarded a one star gold award for both its Wold Gold Light Beer and it Mars Magic Dark Beer, adding to its impressive ?trophy cabinet?.
Celebrating its 16th anniversary, The Great Taste Awards are often referred to as the Oscars of the food industry and represent the authoritative, independent standard for Britain?s fine food sector.? They also help to promote business for winners and have generated over ?2.6 million additional sales and 19,900 new listings over the last six years.
Gill Mellor from Wold Top Brewery is delighted with the award; ?This is the fifth award that we have won for our light, summer beer, Wold Gold, but the first time that we have won an award for Mars Magic, the beer that was named after the 'Red Planet' which was clearly visible to the naked eye in the latter months of 2003 and will not be as close to Earth for the rest of our lifetime!.? Given how rigorous the judging process is, we are proud to have won and to have put East Yorkshire on the brewing map once more.?
