An East Yorkshire brewery is urging people to support local pubs to celebrate Britain?s national drink during?Cask Ale Week (29 March to 5 April).

Wold Newton based Wold Top Brewery supplies its award winning cask ales to over 400 pubs, hotels and restaurants throughout Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and is backing the?Cask-Marque,?CAMRA,?SIBA and?IFBB supported initiative to encourage more people to taste the delights of locally brewed beer.? In particular, National Cask Ale Week is appealing for female drinkers to swap their regular tipple for a taste of real ale as latest stats reveal that the number of female real ale drinkers has doubled in the last year to 1.3 million and that 44% of women who actually taste cask ale become regular or occasional imbibers of the national drink.

Real ale fan and co-owner of Wold Top Brewery Gill Mellor is delighted with the findings; ?It?s great to see that the stereotype of male real ale drinkers is being broken down.? There?s such a large variety of flavours and strengths in traditionally brewed real ales and it?s great news that more women are enjoying them.? We know from our customers that our?Wold Gold blonde beer is particularly popular with women.?

Over 40 pubs within a 20 mile radius of the brewery will be raising a glass to the benefits of real ale and participating in a host of events to mark the awareness week that involves 8000 pubs nationwide. Visit?www.caskaleweek.co.uk for a complete list.
