An East Yorkshire brewery is celebrating after raising over ?11,500 for a Yorkshire children?s cancer charity.
Wold Newton based Wold Top Brewery started the fundraising campaign for the?Candlelighters charity that supports children with life limiting illnesses after Dan Bayes, the son of the brewery?s cellar man,?lost his battle to cancer aged just 25.
The brewery raised the impressive amount in just four months by producing a limited edition beer called Candlelight, by entering a team in the Great North Run and from generous donations, including ?1000 from?Haven Holidays.
The money was handed over to Dr Ian Lewis, a consultant from St James?s Hospital, home of the charity, at a presentation hosted byBridlington?s ?Marine Bar.
Of the total, brewery owner Tom Mellor said; ?We set out to raise ?10,000, but have been amazed by everyone?s generosity and are thrilled to have smashed the target.? We?re very grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way.?
