A Yorkshire coast brewery garden reported unprecedented visitor numbers at its annual Open Weekend.

Wold Top Brewery, based at NGS (National Gardens Scheme) Yellow Book garden, Hunmanby Grange welcomed 720 visitors and raised over £3,000 for NGS charities when it opened its award-winning brewery and TV featured garden to the public this weekend.

Brewery owner and trained horticulturalist, Gill Mellor said: “We were delighted to welcome so many people to Hunmanby Grange and to raise money for both the NGS and St Cuthbert’s Church at Burton Fleming.

“Everybody enjoyed the gardens, the great food provided by Field and Forage and Cream of the Wolds, tours of the new brewery and, of course, the beer!”

Hunmanby Grange is also the home of Muddy Souls Events and has opened its garden for 22 consecutive years under the National Garden Scheme.

Earlier this year, Wold Top Brewery sponsored Welcome to Yorkshire’s ‘Brewer’s Yard’ garden at The Chelsea Flower Show.

NGS gardens across England and Wales welcome over 750,000 visitors a year to 3,800 gardens of quality, character and interest and raise over £2.6 million each year for nursing, caring and gardening charities.  For more information, please visit  Last year, Hunmanby Grange’s open weekend raised over £2,000 for NGS charities.
