Award-winning brewery raises money for historic locomotive trust

A Wold Newton brewery has raised ?320 for?The Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Preservation Trust Ltd.

Award-winning Wold Top Brewery donated 10p from the sale of each bottle of its popular locomotive ale, A4 Amber, at events throughout 2008, including the popular Spring?LNER Steam Festival.

Visitors to the festival were treated to an impressive line up of engines including the three working Gresley A4 Pacifics; Sir Nigel Gresley, Union of South Africa and Bittern and a newly restored North Eastern Railway?Q6 No 63395.

Tony O?Rourke Kilburn presented the cheque to the Trust?s Roger Barker and commented; ?We supply beer to the Railway and the Crossing Club at Grosmont and we support the line wherever we can.? We are delighted to have raised this amount to help maintain the magnificent A4 engines.?
