If you don’t subscribe to our newsletter*, you may not be aware of our ongoing association with Books by the Beach that takes place this April.

This April, we’re delighted to be working again with Scarborough’s book festival; Books by the Beach. It takes place between the 24th and the 26th April and there’s a feast of celebrity writers, top novelists and some fascinating personal stories.

Former Deputy Labour Leader Tom Watson talks about his life changing weight loss & resulting improved health on Saturday 25 April 5pm at Scarborough Library.

Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee & editor David Walker comment on the last decade & what lies ahead for us all on Saturday 25 April 3pm.

Spy thriller writer Charlotte Philby (granddaughter of Kim Philby - Britain’s most famous double agent!) shares stage with bestselling novelist B A Paris on Friday 24 April 1pm.

Every day hero paramedic Jake Jones gives a taste of life on the front line of medicine Friday 24 April 5.30pm. There really is something for everyone!

Tickets for these events at Stephen Joseph Theatre 01723 370541 or online here.

In addition, there’s a BIG slice of fun at the festival finale on Sunday 26 April 7.30pm with popular comedian and writer Jenny Eclair. Jenny will be talking about her book Inheritance - a tale of family ties and she always has a wealth of funny stories to tell - so buckle up and enjoy the ride! Tickets for Jenny at Spa Theatre 01723 821888 & online here.

Ahead of the excitement of the actual festival, we’re delighted to have been asked to produce a bespoke festival beer again and to get involved in the annual beer naming competition. This year’s theme for Books by the Beach beer naming comp is Seafaring - which opens up a host of coastal connections. We’re looking for a catchy name that ties in with the programme, rolls off the tongue and fits perfectly on a Wold Top label! The competition is free to enter and open to everyone over the age of 18. A bottle of the winning beer brewed by us will be given to each visiting author at Books by the Beach and it goes without saying that the author of . the winning suggestion will receive a gift pack of beer plus four tickets to see Jenny Eclair.

The competition opens on Thursday 5 March and closes on Friday 20 March.
Please send your entry to events@woldtopbrewery.co.uk by midnight on 20th March.

Please note that only the winner will be informed and the judges’ decision is final
