Cooking with Wold Top - Scarborough Fair IPA tray bake

SF IPA tray bake r

Not only are our beers delicious to drink, but they give all sorts of food a great flavour. We've probably all enjoyed the pub classic beef in beer, but beer in a tray bake? Trust us, it's gorgeous! Thanks to one of our lovely brides, Jodie (who married Allan here in 2015) for sharing this fabulous recipe for Scarborough Fair IPA Tray Bake.

Ingredients for the cake:
120g butter
85g sugar
1 tbsp black treacle
2 eggs
150g plain flour
3 tsp baking powder
Pinch salt
60ml Scarborough Fair IPA

Ingredients for the buttercream:
100g butter
200g icing sugar
60ml Scarborough Fair IPA

1. Preheat the oven to 180c
2. Cream the butter and sugar in a bowl, then add the eggs.
3. Add the black treacle and stir again.
4. Mix in the flour, baking powder and salt, then finally mix in the IPA.
5. Pour the cake mix into a greased baking tin, and bake for roughly 20 minutes.
6. Remove the cake from the oven and leave to cool on a wire rack.
7. To make the buttercream, whip up the butter and icing sugar, then stir in the IPA.
8. When the cake has cooled, add the buttercream and decorate with grated chocolate.
9. Cut the cake into squares or slices to serve.
