As UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) revealed new figures showing a record number of UK businesses interested in exporting through government-brokered opportunities, beer from our brewery was one of the highlights of an evening reception that launched Exporting is GREAT Week last week.
Gill Mellor was invited by UKTI, the government department leading Exporting is GREAT, to participate in a reception for 120 guests hosted by Lord Mark Price, Minister of State for Trade and Investment at Lancaster House in London.
The reception was one of 90 events held nationwide throughout Exporting is GREAT Week that are aimed at supporting more companies to export or increase their overseas business and Gill Mellor was proud to be involved:
“Thanks to the help that we have had from UKTI, exports now account for 15% of our business. We were delighted to be invited to provide beer for the reception and to have the opportunity to talk to key representatives from Exporting is GREAT campaign partners about our export experiences.”
Trade and Investment Minister, Lord Price, said:
“We have a proud history as a trading nation. The development of digital technology has the potential to give even the smallest company a global reach and access to attractive new markets.
“This government is committed to supporting 100,000 more UK businesses to export by 2020. Exporting is GREAT Week is the perfect time to inspire companies to take advantage of the world of opportunity out there and the global demand for British products, skills and expertise.”
Exporting is GREAT aims to inspire and support 100,000 additional UK exporters to sell their goods and services overseas by 2020. Launched in November 2015, Exporting is GREAT partners with major UK businesses, to support companies at every stage of their exporting journey – from identifying opportunities to winning contracts overseas. There will be another Exporting is GREAT week in November.
